Dalton...14

Rylands...20

AT last Rylands have won a match this season after only losing by a few points or being unlucky in previous games.

The team gelled and it was difficult to find a man of the match as all players gave 100 per cent.

Peter Leonard was the first points scorer for Rylands with a penalty.

Good passing from James Evans, Alan Brinksman and Ian Ward led to Anthony Poole crossing the line.

Danny Woodward was running hard and set up Ward, who used lovely side steps to take the ball towards the try line.

Brilliant hard drives from Mike Lee broke into the Dalton defence more than once but the half-time score remained 6-6.

From a Rylands scrum the ball was lost and Dalton capitalised to put them 10-6 in front.

After numerous Rylands chances Poole finally crossed the line. Leonard sconverted which put Rylands two points in front.

James Evans burst through the Dalton forwards, passed to Ratcliffe and got the ball back to go over the whitewash but again Leonard's kick just missed.

There was exceptional defensive work from Rylands to keep Dalton out.

Poole latched on to a sloppy Dalton pass and ran 80 metres up the hill to cross the line and put Rylands 20-10 in front. Leonard's kick hit the posts.

Iain Ratcliffe's fresh legs helped stiffen Rylands' defence as they hung on for dear life in the closing minutes to clinch victory.
