TECHNICAL experts gave residents of Weston reassuring news at ICI's open event this week.

A range of world-leading experts attended the two-day event and presented technical evidence that indicates the vast majority of Weston village is not at risk from HCBD from Weston quarries.

The results from the extensive investigations so far, demonstrate that the problem is confined to a small number of properties immediately to the west of the north quarry.

During the event, held on Sunday and Monday, more than 200 residents discussed elements of the project with the various experts.

Halton Borough Council and representatives of the Community Facilities Steering Group were also on hand to discuss the projects underway to improve community facilities in the village, such as a playground and additional landscaping. Residents are being given an opportunity to express their views before projects are progressed to ensure the wishes of the community are being fully reflected.

Commenting on the event, ICI's Project Pathway leader, Jim Hill said: "We have brought together the ICI and external teams in this way to allow residents to speak directly to some of the world's leading experts in this type of investigation.

"There have been numerous different issues raised and we are pleased that many people in the community have taken the time to come along and talk to us and our consultants."

He added: "We have some very positive information for residents and welcome this opportunity to explain it, and to listen and respond to their views."
