WINNINGTON Park pulled off a reversal of last weekend to see off opponents in both league and cup.

On Saturday, they stayed in the top two of County League Division Two after dismissing their hosts, bottom side Tattenhall, for just 88.

The surface was ideal for the bounce, movement and accuracy of James Cowell's bowling as he and Paul Allen kept the runs down with numerous maidens.

With the pace of Will Chambres added to this, Winnington tore through the Tattenhall line-up as none of the batsmen managed to get past 25. Only the resilience of Peter Pearce (24 not out) worried the bowlers.

Cowell, who is now the joint leading wicket taker in the league with 21, finished with 6-33, well supported by Paul Allen (2-9) and Will Chambres (2-35).

With the wicket misbehaving, Winnington knew that the work wasn't complete, but openers Matt Cranney and Russ Cook confidently finished the game off in 20.5 overs.

Cranney scored 45 not out and Cook 35 not out as Tattenhall failed to take a wicket, Winnington scoring 89-0 to take the maximum 25 points.

On Sunday, Park visited Poynton in the League Cup, Danny Leech hitting a century to carry his side to victory.

Poynton got off to a great start with the Park bowling looking tired from the previous day's win. However, they stuck to their task and bowled the home side out for 172 in their 45 overs.

Hayes only went for 16 runs in his nine overs, but it was brother Jason who took the wickets (5-40), while Cowell and Allen took two each.

Cranney opened the batting with Leech, promoted up the order due to the absence of Russ Cook, and they matched each other run for run until Cranney was out for 44.

James Lewis soon followed but Chris Leech steadied the ship and allowed Danny Leech to open up and race to 105 not out.

He took 24 off the 37th over to win the game by eight wickets and send Park into the next round.

WINNINGTON Park 2nds played Tattenhall at home on Saturday and produced a similar result to the 1st XI.

Tattenhall batted first and were out for 160, Winnington reaching their target with ease, losing just three wickets.

Chris Leech top scored with 88 in his first game back in regular Saturday cricket.
