DEREK Twigg has spoken of his delight at being re-elected as MP for Halton.

On a night when the percentage of voters countrywide was down the constituents of Halton came out in force to support him.

He said: Although the percentages of voters was lower than it has been we managed to keep up with the national average.

As a result the seat of Halton became the 17th strongest seat in the country on Thursday night.

I was delighted to win in a landslide victory and it is an honour and a privilege to represent the people of Halton.

Derek went on to discuss his priorities over the next four years.

He said: Ill be campaigning for more resources for health due to the problems we have in the borough.

Education and transport are also important and I will be discussing the proposed second crossing across the Mersey.

Youth disorder will also be a focus and I will be taking part in community work and campaigning for extra policing.

Twigg went on to praise local councillors and vowed to bring issues in Halton to the Governments attention.

He added: Both Farnworth and Birchfield seats were gained which is a great achievement considering they were Conservative wards up until 1990.

Overall I am delighted and will continue to work hard for the constituents.
