RESIDENTS from Halton Village are converting a disused sports field into their very own Millennium Green - thanks to a little bit of help from rubbish!
A grant of almost £18, 500 from the Landfill Tax credits of Waste Recycling Group (WRG) is helping the Halton Village Millennium Green trust develop the site in the centre of the village.
The green will feature a millennium sculpture, grass play area for children, wildflower meadow, footpaths, access gates and fencing.
Centrepiece
Edward Smith, of the Halton Village Millennium Green Trust, said: The village has long required a centrepiece and a safe play area.
We are very pleased to have received the grant from WRG which allows us to realise the dream.
Richard Smith, Project Manager of Wren who distribute the Landfill Tax credits of WRG, added: This is the kind of project that benefits the entire community.
It gives Halton Village something that will last and be enjoyed for generations.
