DARESBURY Lab caused an upset by beating Stockton Heath 218-212 in Warrington Public Parks' Bowls League's Guardian Challenge Cup.

They did it with eight winning cards, including B. Sheriden, 21-12, D. Abray, 21-13. B. Dawbarn was Stockton Heath's sweep winner, 21-9.

Penketh were edged out by Lovely Lane 200-197 despite excellent cards from G. Peters, 21-3 and G. Percival, 21-7. S. Brien took the Lane's sweep, 21-6, supported by W. Bailey, 21-10 and anchorman K. Lee, 21-14.

St Elphins Two beat King and Queen 221-187 with match-winning cards from P. Pownall, 21-5, I. Bostock, 21-8 and R. Lunt, 21-9. King's best card was J. Lowe, 21-10.

Victoria One were beaten by Reflecta Youth One 217-201. Reflecta had good returns from S. Lea and T. Wightman, 21-12 plus A. Paton, 21-3. Victoria's best was captain D. McEllin, 21-10.

In the Guardian Supplementary Cup Richmonds had a good win over Victoria Two 221-216. B. Buckley took the sweep 21-10 plus R. Adcroft achieved 21-11. Victoria replied with M. Cook, 21-9 and K. Ashcroft, 21-11.

Bank Two B had a good win over Whitecross 219-213 with good cards from H. Singleton and J. Droogan, both 21-10. Whitecross' sweep winner was R. Newton, 21-8, supported by S. Brown, 21-12.

Orford Two beat Newtown 239-191 with returns from G. Catterall, 21-11, J. Sutcliffe, J. Nolan, both 21-12. Newton's best return was D. Drinkwater, 21-12.

St. Elphins One had a comfortable win over Reflecta Youth Two 235-203 with G. Ashurst and W. Johnson sharing the sweep with 21-10 wins. The Youths had excellent returns from P. Maddocks, 21-13, I. Ellison and D. Roughley, both 21-15.
