CARL Armitage's 21-1 blitz helped Rylands to maintain second spot in Section A of the Warrington and North Cheshire Bowls Association Friday League.

His success, supported by Stuart Goodwin, 21-6, steered Rylands to an 11-3 win over Brooklands A.

Leaders King and Queen A had no game.

St. Oswalds A closed up in third following an 11-3 victory over Pierpoints A. Ray Nevins took the sweep 21-8. Mal Cook, 21-5 and Arnie Bishop, 21-7, were the best of 12 winners for Grange A in a 14-0 success over GESM A.

Section B leaders Tetley D had a 9-5 victory over Monks Hall. Top winners were P. Sauce, 21-11 and K. Hart, 21-12.

Woolston A moved into second following the 10-4 win against third placed Hollins Park B. D. Newton won the sweep 21-10.

Red Lion A's 10-4 victory over Richmonds A included Dave Griffiths' 21-4 and Ian Field's 21-6. Tommy Williams won 21-10 for the visitors.

Keith Smith, 21-5 and John Nolan, 21-9, were Monk Sports A's top winners in the 9-5 win over Grange B. Paul Dean replied with a 21-5 card.

Rylands B won 11-4 at Cadishead Cons. Brian Gerrard was the best winner, 21-10. John Watson also won 21-10 for the home side.

Farmers B stayed top of Section C following the 10-4 win over St. Oswalds B. Skipper Bill Price was the top winner, 21-10.

Wins from J. Ashton, 21-2 and P. Kelly, 21-6, helped second-placed Richmonds B to a 13-1 victory over King and Queen B.

Third placed Hollins Park A defeated Eagle A 10-4. Top wins came from D. Jones, 21-4 and W. Baker, 21-7. GESM B defeated Stag A 10-4 with Jack Brown taking the sweep 21-7.

A. Rogers won by the same score for Stag. R. McDermott, 21-4, Alan Ayres, 21-6 and G. Hoarty, 21-7, were Bulls Head's top winners in the 11-3 win against Kings Club B.
