City Reds...24

Wolves...16

WARRINGTON Wolves Academy Rugby League team went down to their eighth successive defeat at Salford City Reds which was due entirely to a disastrous start.

Within the opening 15 minutes they went 18 points behind, thanks mainly to their own inept performance rather than anything special from the Reds.

Warrington, to their credit, fought back and were rewarded with an unconverted try on 18 minutes from Anthony Kirkham.

A 31st minute penalty goal for Salford made the score 20-4 but Warrington hit back again and were rewarded on 34 minutes when hooker Danny Fullerton forced his way over and this time Nick Owen converted to leave Warrington 20-10 behind.

Crossed

The Wolves had the best possible start to the second half when Mike Callan crossed for a try after only two minutes and with Nick Owen's conversion they were only four points behind.

Warrington were looking the better team now but, try as they might, they were unable to add to their score and on 64 minutes former Warrington Academy player, David Harris, scored an unconverted try to give Salford the victory.
