EVEN though it rained on their parade, the Scott Street Carnival went ahead and the crowds braved the elements to indulge in the summer fun and support a worthy cause.
Despite the torrential downpour, hundreds turned up to join in the fun with line dancing, morris dancing and a children's karaoke.
Early indications are that the event raised well over £600 for a sense and sound room at Loushers Lane Special School.
The money raised will help pay for equipment for the room, to include an interactive Catherine wheel, a silken waterfall, star net lights, acoustic lights and a flashing ball.
The multi-sensory room will help stimulate children's senses and encourage language development.
Chairman of the Scott Street Carnival, Ken Vance, said: "The rain didn't seem to keep anyone away - I was amazed at how many people kept turning up all afternoon."
