CONGLETON residents who have their homes broken into have a one in ten chance that the burglar will be caught.
The latest crime figures from Cheshire Police show nine per cent of house burglaries in Congleton are detected by police.
That figure related to three months between April and June, a one per cent drop on the figure for January to March.
The detection rate stood at 30 per cent for the last quarter of 2000, and the latest figures are the lowest since early 1998.
There were 236 vehicle crimes in Congleton between April and June, representing 2.7 crimes for every thousand homes, with six per cent detected.
There were 1,117 recorded crimes in the Congleton area for the second quarter of 2001, 12 for every thousand homes, of which 17 per cent were detected.
