THE BOROUGH'S future mayor has been nominated.
Currently deputy, Cllr Michael Roberts BEM is in line to take office for 2002/2003.
The selection process is based on longest accumulative service and now Cllr Roberts will be standing for election at the council's AGM in May 2002.
Councillors Les Davies, Gwyn Griffiths and Brian Silvester have asked not to be considered
Speaking at last Thursday's board meeting, Cllr Dawn Threadgold said: "It's sad that we're already considering the next mayor when our current mayor is only in the middle of his term and doing such a good job.
"Cllr Roberts will be superb and the fact that he is already in training, could mean he will do even better. It is certainly a break in continuity. He is next in line as others have pulled out for reasons of their own. I have no hesitation in putting Cllr Roberts forward."
