A NANTWICH solicitor has played a part in helping a dairy farmer win six figure damages in a court battle against the manufacturers and suppliers of defective milking equipment.
Lesley Smith from the Manor Road firm of Bowcock Cuerden was a part of the legal team that steered Helen Gibbins of Whitchurch towards a victory against Sovereign Finance, the manufacturers Gascoigne Melott and installers Birtles Services.
She had run the dairy farm with her mother, Betty Sumner, who sadly died before the case was over.
They maintained that the milking parlour installed by the companies caused injury and infection to the cows and failed to cope with a planned increase in the herd.
Lesley Smith's contribution to their successful attempt to get compensation was to arrange the LawAssist insurance that helped provide and protect costs.
