VIKINGS coach Neil Kelly made his fifth successful swoop into the Dewsbury Rams' locker room since his appointment as Widnes' number one when he secured the signature of Welsh International Barry Eaton last week, writes Jim Richardson.

The 28-year-old Wakefield-born scrum half, who has enjoyed spells at Doncaster Dragons and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, signed a contract with the club on Thursday, September 27.

Eaton, who was part of Kelly's 2000 Northern Ford Premiership Grand Final-wining side, will join former Dewsbury team-mates Daniel Frame and Ryan McDonald, who were captured by the Widnes coach earlier last month.

Kelly said: "Barry is a prolific goal kicker and has been regularly in double figures for tries over the past few seasons. He's also an international and figured in the last Wales /England match and has played at Super League level with Wakefield and briefly with Castleford."

Meanwhile, Paul Atcheson, Sean Richardson, Gareth Haggerty and David Mills have also confirmed their commitment to the Vikings by signing full-time contracts with the club.

There will be a chance for Widnes fans to see Widnes young guns Gareth Haggerty and Chris Percival in action when they take to the Auto Quest turf with the Northern Ford Premiership U21s to take on the Super League U21s on Wednesday, October 10.

The evening will begin with a West Academy v/s East Academy clash, kick off 6pm, and this will be followed by the main U21s event , kick off 8pm.

Tickets, which can be bought on the door and will be for the South Stand only, are £2 for adults and £1 for OAPs. Children get in free.
