NEW owners have been discovered this week for the Spectrum Arena, the Guardian can reveal.
Bookmaking giant Done is believed to be the latest empire at the helm of the Birchwood venue, after the site was bought from London-based owners SCL Langbourn, for an undisclosed sum.
It is envisaged that the arena, which has staged everything from pop concerts and circus shows to club nights and ice dancing in its history, will continue to be used, for the moment, as a film studio.
Done's future ambitions for the arena had not been disclosed as the Guardian went to press.
Spectrum spokesman Nikki Dibb said last night: "In the short-term, more productions will be filmed at the arena, until the plans for its permanent future are finalised."
Countless film and TV epics have been staged within the arena's confines since it came out of mothballs in the 1990s.
