PLANS to build 40 new houses at the Heath Business and Technical Park have been approved - despite local opposition.
Angry residents lobbied members of the development, control and licensing committee on Monday evening.
Letters of objection were submitted by 23 residents who fear the development would put highway safety at risk.
They are also worried about the impact the new housing estate may have on a pond and loss of trees.
Councillors approved the scheme after hearing the proposal met planning criteria.
Persimmon Homes (NW) Limited originally planned to build 50 properties. Plans to build 10 near an existing pond were deleted after environmentalists found species of regional significance.
