Farnworth 16 Widnes Albion Bulls 16
A POINT lost in their championship challenge as far as the Albion are concerned was the result of this draw against local rivals Farnworth.
After early skirmishes the home team took a 6-0 lead before a good passing movement saw Shaun McGahan cross wide out for Lee Birdseye to equalise with a fine kick from the touchline.
Both teams had chances but Farnworth took advantage to land a 10-6 interval lead with an unconverted try.
The second half saw the Albion equalise with a try by Paul Argent and take the lad with a penalty by Birdseye.
Both sides exchanged penalties to keep the contest finely balanced only for Farnworth to snatch the lead with a try and the Albion to equalise with a penalty by Paul Jackson at 16-16 both sides went for a winner but it was not to be and the honours were even.
The Albion will have to move up a gear if they are to overcome Ince Rose Bridge this Saturday at Leigh Rec (kick-off 2.30pm). The A team are away to Chorley Panthers.
