ITALIAN marble and plush leather seats have transformed the old Victoria Square Co-op into a chic continental bar and restaurant.
Entrepreneur Karl Cavanagh, 30, has invested £1m creating his dream vision.
"I don't see why the people of Widnes can't have somewhere really sophisticated," said Karl, owner of the Vue Bar & Grill
More than 60 new jobs have been created to staff the 1,000 capacity, seven-day-a-week venue, boasting a caf bar, a la carte restaurant and cocktail bar.
"I had a vision," said Karl, who opened his first Mediterranean bar in Liverpool, six months ago.
"I wanted to create somewhere stylish where couples could relax and enjoy themselves without loud music and people banging into you."
Ambitious Karl, who runs several businesses, including a mobile phone company from an office in Ditton Road, is keen to expand his leisure empire.
"I hope to open another eight to 10 in the north west over the next three to four years," he said.
He will be personally ensuring that the food and service is first class.
"I want everything to be spot on," he said. "I will be eating here and expect everything to be exceptional."
Old black and white DVDs will be screened to help create a calm, relaxed atmosphere.
A strict dress code and security staff, he said, will ensure guests enjoy a peaceful environment.
Cllr Rob Polhill, board member for regeneration, said: "It is wonderful to see the building transformed in this way.
"This excellent bar and restaurant is certainly a most welcome addition to Victoria Square and will go a long way to bringing the area to life."
