SANTA Claus is coming to Winsford next week thanks to the town's Rotary Club.

Fresh from organising the town's fireworks display, Winsford and Middlewich Rotary Club is set to help Santa's float on its journey around the town during early evenings starting Monday, December 8.

Children in most areas of the town will be able to see Santa as the float is scheduled to wind its way through nearly all of Wharton and Over.

Peter Kitching, one of the chief organisers, said: "Every year Santa's sleigh goes around the town wishing everyone a merry Christmas, while his snowmen give sweets out to children - naturally only the deserving ones - and collect money for charity.

"Santa's float is an essential part of Christmas for the children of Winsford and I am honoured that he has chosen the Rotary Club to help every year.

"Indeed, many people who have grown up in the town, including some Rotarians, would not feel that it's Christmas without the float."

The float is scheduled to visit the following areas on these dates:

Monday, December 8 - Foxfield Lane/Fairways area; Tuesday, December 9 - Beeston Drive area; Wednesday, December 10 - Queensway/Dene Drive area; Thursday, December 11 - Abbotts Way/Nixon Drive/Saxon Crossway; Friday, December 12 - Knights Grange area; Saturday, December 13 - Swanlow Park area; Monday, December 15 - Station Road/Rookery Rise/Nunhouse area; Wednesday, December 17 - Wharton Road/Wharton Park area; Thursday, December 18 - visiting anyone missed out over previous nights.

The Rotary Club wants to thank Car Exchange of Nantwich for the use of their towing-vehicle shaped reindeer for the visits.
