MICHAEL Thompson scored in the third minute with a volley from 10 yards after Linnett missed the ball.

They got a second in the 12th minute when, from a Thompson corner, Matty Nelson headed in.

A brilliant save by Percival preserved the two goal cushion going into the interval.

The second half saw Mond defending well and looking dangerous on the break, Nelson and Droughton both going close.

Mond were reduced to 10 men when Jones was sent off in the 68th minute but the home side responded when Thompson crossed for Matty Nelson to volley home.

Mond were reduced to nine men after Howard limped off and Stockport scored a consolation goal in the 84th minute.

Stockport had a player sent off in the closing stages.

Man of the match was Andy Tull and the Cheshire cup merit award went to Matty Nelson.

Mond Reserves lost 4-0 at Shaftesbury. Parry had a penalty saved and struck the post three times in a brief rally.

Ged Bushell won Mond's bonanza, the consolation prize went to Irene Hanson.

On Saturday Mond Rangers visit Willaston in a Carlsberg West Cheshire league division two fixture, kick-off 2pm.

Mond Rangers Reserves are also away when they visit Mersey Royal in a third division match, kick-off 2pm.

Mond Rangers bingo dates over the Christmas period are: Thursday, December 4, 11 and 18; Tuesday, December 23 and 30 and Thursday, January 8, at Pavilions Club, Sandy Lane, Runcorn, eyes down 7.45pm.
