Runcorn FC Halton 3

Frickley Athletic 2

A LAST gasp winner from player/manager Chris Lightfoot sent Runcorn FC Halton into third round of the FA Trophy.

Boosted by the return of Matty McGinn, the home side had the better of the opening period and Lightfoot was unlucky not to open the scoring with a quickly taken free kick after 14 minutes.

While Frickley were lining up the wall the Runcorn FC Halton manager shot but keeper Mark Samways managed to tip the ball over.

Lightfoot went close again but keeper Samways was equal to the challenge, turning the player/manager's half volley away for a corner.

Runcorn broke the deadlock after 18 minutes. Ged Courtney picked the ball up on the right, beat the defender and crossed for McGinn to side foot home. The lead was short lived, Frickley equalising six minutes later, Dan Sherriffe bundling the ball over.

Frickley took the lead just before half time, Phil Lindley taking advantage of some poor marking to head past keeper Tony McMillan.

The home side got back into the game through Courtney who levelled three minutes after the break.

Lightfoot got up well at the far post to head a corner back across goal and Courtney was on hand at the far post to chest the ball in.

Runcorn FC Halton dominated the rest of the half, although there were few chances. In the last minute Lightfoot popped up in the six yard box to send the Linnets into the next round.
