THE Fast Food Rockers, including one of Northwich's very own pop princesses, look set to reach number one this Christmas.

The group has already reached number two twice in six months and their new song out on December 15, is tipped for success.

Lucy Meggit, aged 21, who went to St Nicholas RC High School in Hartford, is one of the girl-boy-girl trio. She said: "I Love Christmas is about everything you love about Christmas. We enjoy performing it and we love our costumes.

"Variety is what it's all about and at the moment no other pop group is a costumed group."

The song's lively chorus, full of festive cheer is: I love Christmas time, when the bells ring in this heart of mine. Just like Santa out on his sleigh tonight, I love Christmas.

The Fast Food Rockers face tough competition for the Christmas slot from other bands including The Darkness, Cliff Richard and Pop Idol cotestants but Lucy remains upbeat about the challenge.

She said: "We don't really look on the charts as a competition. We just love singing the song, which makes it exciting, so we're keeping our fingers crossed about reaching number one."

Although admitting to a passion for fish and chips, Lucy is looking forward to a traditional dinner with her family in Northwich.

She said: "It's not really Christmas without a proper dinner, with mince pies, Christmas pudding and cakes. I'm really excited about coming home and can't wait to spend some time with my family."

Despite dashing around the country promoting her song, Northwich is still Lucy's favourite place. She said: "A few weeks ago we were performing in Bolton and Stoke so I was able to stay at my parent's house.

"Lucy and Martin stayed as well and we all went out for drink in the Kingfisher.

"We had a really good time and I loved showing them around the shops."
