for duo

The third production of the Harlequin Players season is The Odd Couple by Neil Simon, which takes place from December 10 to 13.

The play follows Oscar Madison's life after his messy divorce, along with Felix, whose wife has kicked him out.

The story was made famous by Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau and is recreated in its original stage form by the Players.

Oscar soon discovers why Felix' wife has thrown him out and begins to feel sympathy with her, just as his own life is getting back in order.

The play will be performed at the Harlequin Theatre, Queen Street, Northwich, and Harlequin Theatre regulars will be familiar with many of the performers.

Don Hirst plays slob Oscar, Chris Saunders plays the obsessively neat Felix, and other roles are performed by Rob Copeland, Speed,, Jeff Barlow, Murray, Graham Sunners, Roy, Ben Brunsdon, Vinnie, Jenny Hindmarch, Gwendoline Pigeon and the tireless Linda Sunners, who plays Cecily Pigeon.

Tickets are priced £5, or £4 for full-time students, and can be reserved through the box office.

Meawnhile the players will shortly be holding auditions for Abigail's Party, which was dubbed a 'kitsch classic' when it toured the country earlier this year.

The play, which features every aspect of a calamitous relationship, from gin and tonic to interrogation and nose-poking, has five parts available.

Open auditions will take place on Thursday, December 4, at 7.45pm and rehearsals will commence the following month before the four-night production opens on February 11.
