I WOULD like to reply to Cheshire Police and the Cheshire Road Safety Camera Partnership letter. The point of my letter about Battersby Lane was the time the policeman was taking the photographs on Sunday morning.
As they point out, Battersby Lane is a very dangerous place throughout the week and I fully support the slowing down of traffic, but this does not address the problem of child and adult safety when crossing the road at Norris Street and Hallfields Road, and the lack of patrol attendants.
The police state that patrol attendants are employed by the local council but what if the council cannot get anybody to do this job? Do the police feel that this job is not an important part of road safety and the problem of child safety can go ignored?
All the community want is that our children can walk to school without the risk of being run over. Surely Cheshire Police and the Cheshire Road Safety Camera Partnership can find a solution to this problem and not come out with negative answers like "the council supply patrol attendants"?
