SAINTS boss Ian Millward expects to bolster his squad with at least one more recruit in time for the start of Super League IX.

Millward revealed that he had been watching and talking to players of both rugby codes during his break Down Under.

He said: "When I was over in Australia I did look to see what was available in both games. I am always looking for quality to increase the squad and I would be very disappointed come January if we don't announce another signing, although nothing is cut and dried.

"I would like to bring another forward in but I would not rule out an outside back. What I am looking for is quality."

He was backed up by CEO Sean McGuire, who said the club had the funds available to recruit more players, should they be of sufficient quality.

Saints resumed full training this week, apart from GB players Sean Long, Paul Sculthorpe, Lee Gilmour and Martin Gleeson.

They were joined for the first time by new boys Ricky Bibey and Nick Fozzard.

They were officially welcomed to the club by McGuire, who said: "These acquisitions are very important to us because one of the features of last season was myself and Ian Millward getting stopped in the street and being approached with the words 'You know what you need here, some ruddy big forwards'. Well that is what we have done.

"If you go into the RL marketplace to look for a couple of front rowers, you find that there are not many around, so we are delighted to have this pair on board. We believe they will flourish here."

Fozzard was pleased to settle into his new surroundings.

The big prop said: "Warrington have got a lot of good things going for them. But I have always wanted to play for St Helens. It is like a dream come true.

"They have got lots of great players, a great coach and it is a great club. That is why I jumped at the chance.
