Weaveham 14 Bold A 36

BOLD marched into the quarter-finals of the North West Counties Bowl as they completed a season's treble over their old rivals.

It was Weaverham who opened scoring with a try, but the visitors soon took control with hooker Gary Talbot calling the shots. Good work by forwards Lee Bednarczyk, Dave Dyas and John Mayor took play into the home half and then a superb pass by Talbot sent Graeme Bannister in for a try.

Steve Rybczynski was next on the scoresheet for Miners, diving over after a Rick Mayor bomb had been spilled by the Weaverham full-back. Then Talbot went over from acting half-back.

Lee Mayor grabbed his customary try early in the second half but poor discipline by Bold allowed Weaverham to get back into contention with two further tries.

The visitors got back on track though when Talbot scored his second, then full-back Andy Fairhurst rounded off a good passing move to over under the sticks with Rybczynski landing his sixth goal to complete the scoring.
