ALSAGER Town produced their best performance of the season on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over third-placed Woodley Sports.

They followed that with a point against Warrington on Tuesday night in a 0-0 draw.

Visitors Woodley put Alsager under pressure in the first half on Saturday, but the home defence was in top form.

Alsager keeper Powner was also in excellent form, diving full length to push a shot from Norton around the post on 14 minutes.

Woodley went close again five minutes later, Brotherton heading a goalbound effort off the line.

Alsager also had their chances, Brotherton firing over from eight yards out on the half hour following a corner.

Biddulph struck a glorious shot seven minutes before half-time, but was denied by the keeper.

The Woodley keeper produced another excellent save to keep out a Kinsey shot on 51 minutes, and Alsager scored the winner with nine minutes left.

Biddulph delivered a pinpoint cross for Hurley to score from close range.

Warrington had the better chances on Tuesday night, and Powner made some excellent stops.

Alsager travel to Skelmersdale tomorrow.
