The women said they wanted to create a memorial to Jan Verney, who died last year after being diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas.
Mrs Verney, 58, formerly of Glebelands Road, Knutsford, was the first woman chairman of the Tatton Conservative Association, but always found time for bridge.
The mother used to play every week with Jane Robertson, Sue Capper, Karen Long and Chris Record.
On Thursday Mrs Robertson said the 40 players had raised £585 for the East Cheshire Hospice at their bridge night - and Letty Whitehead, of Bexton Road, had won the first Jan Verney Memorial Trophy.
"Jan would have been proud that we managed to organise this on our own because she was always very good at organising herself," said Mrs Robertson.
