Mr Harold Leech, husband of Mrs Prudence Leech, died of pneumonia on March 12. He was 90.
Mr Leech, of Wilson Close, Thelwall, formerly of Orford, lived in Warrington all his life.
He was last employed at Daresbury Laboratory, and prior to this had worked at Chadwicks, and at Cliff Lunts as a joiner.
During the Second World War he served in the Royal Army Service Corps as an ambulance driver, and saw action in France, Germany, Egypt and Palestine.
He leaves his wife, a daughter and two grandchildren.
A service was held on March 19 at Walton Lea, followed by cremation.
The Rev Biggin officiated.
Arrangements were made by Co-operative Funeral Services.
