THE bus protestors are back blocking the new Asda bus route with nightly protests.

The protests started again on Saturday after talks with Halton Council failed to reach agreement.

Protestor Helen Jackson said: "The council is basically saying it's not up to them it's up to Asda and Halton Transport.

"We are going to fight it. As long as I draw breath I will fight them."

She said during one protest an inspector from the bus garage asked her who to send the bill to and she replied 'send it to whoever you want'."

People living on Brynn Street are worried about the road and environmental safety of living on a bus route.

"We are going to keep protesting until we are listened to and people realise there's a problem," Helen added.

Protestor Joanne Dennett said: "We are getting passed from pillar to post. No-one is taking responsibility."

She said the council had offered to move the route a few yards and widen the kerb but this was not enough.

Halton Transport's managing director, David Cunningham, said he would have preferred a route closer to Asda's main doors, and that his bus routes were adapted to the council approved plans.

An Asda spokesperson said: "This is a council led scheme, the scheme we are following has been approved and went through normal consultation."

A spokesperson for Halton Council said the route was in line with the approved plan.

They added: "We have some suggestions which we believe would improve the position and we will continue to talk to residents about it."
