THE Widnes Vikings' victory a the HJ Stadium in Warrington was a great game for those who went, beating the Wire at the local derby in their new home ground was fantastic.

I wasn't that impressed with the stadium though. From the outside it looks ok, inside it looks like the bare minimum was spent on it.

The scoreboard has no clock - strange since it is brand new - and you would expect to be able to see how much time is left near the end of the game.

The food was a bit steep, but I noticed you could take drinks on to the terraces at Warrington, which you can't do at Halton Stadium.

Why is it that magistrates in Warrington have allowed this but the magistrates for Widnes haven't? Are the laws of the land different for Widnes or what?

The executive boxes are a bit cheap as well and do open up to the pitch but straight into the seating. Having said the above, it is far better than Wilderspool - although even with three sides, the Halton Stadium is far better!
