A COMPANY behind plans for a £30million sports complex in Middlewich says it is just weeks away from securing a new site for the project.

MID Point Sports Limited is at a 'sensitive stage' in negotiations over land near Middlewich, where it plans to build a sports centre and a luxury, 80-bedroom hotel has now been added to the plans.

The company did have plans to build the complex at a site in Pochin Way, but the deal fell through at the last minute, delaying the plans.

Directors hope that planning permission will be secured by late October and that building works will commence soon after, enabling the new sports complex to open in December 2005.

Michael Davey, spokesman for MID Point Sports Limited, said: "Due to the sensitivity of the negotiations and developments the actual site is being kept behind locked doors and will be announced very soon.

"International specialist project managers, quantity surveyors and other professionals have been taken on to ensure that we open on time."

Marjory Issatt, a director of MID Point Sports Ltd, added: "The various sporting halls, rooms and pool have taken on enhanced features and developments.

"The pool is still 50m but the warm-up pool is now 25m by 10m and there are flumes, waves, fun areas and jacuzzis.

"Enhanced pampering facilities including a full spa have also been included."

More spectator seating has been added to the various sports halls and a full food and dining area incorporated.

A hotel accommodation block has been added to accommodate up to 80 rooms and residential rooms added for seminars, sports days, weeks and action days.
