MORE than 20 children are going on a football trip of a lifetime to Dublin, with the help of sponsorship from Weaver Vale Housing Trust.
The trust has donated £1,000 to Winsford Diamonds, a team of 12 and 13-year-old players.
Manager Tony Mitchell said: "I was doing cartwheels when I found out we were going to receive a donation. It's very difficult to get sponsorship nowadays because a lot of people are asking for money for good causes."
Tony will be taking 22 children to Ireland for a three-night stay from June 3 to 6. The team will play several games of football including one against Irish champions Shelborne.
Clr Tony Hooton, a board member at Weaver Vale, said: "We see it as part of our function not just to provide housing but to help the local community."
