Widnes U12s 15 Manchester U12s 5
Wilmslow Festival
THE Wids maintained their fantastic record of having won this tournament every year since first appearing as an U7s team.
In the first rounds they defeated Ormskirk 20-0, Leigh 30-0 and a travelling tourist team from Ireland, Greystones 15-0.
This meant a semi final match against Trafford who were beaten 20-0 to set up a final against Manchester.
This was a very well contested match with Manchester forwards doing particularly well.
But the organisation and pace of the Widnes team finally came through with dominant prop Darrell Bold characteristically scoring two excellent tries and scrum half Oliver diving on a loose ball over the line to secure a victory, three tries to one.
All the boys take enormous credit for this fantastic sequence of victories over several years at the Wilmslow Festival.
