FOLLOWING a three-wicket victory over Grappenhall in a pre-season friendly, Danny Moore took three wickets and Tony Hurdley top scored with 55 not out.

Widnes travel to Macclesfield for the opening fixture of the Cheshire County League premier division season.

Premier league fixtures are of 110 overs duration with the side batting first able to bat for 60 overs if they choose.

This will test the stamina and fitness of all involved.

Widnes hope to have Phil Catterall and Bappa Mukherjee in their side, they missed the Grappenhall fixture.

Also likely to be included is the returning Ibra Ali who bowled 10 economical overs on Saturday and 16-year-old James McCoy, son of former Widnes wicket keeper Tony McCoy.

James, who represented the north of England last season at U15s level, made scores of 123 and 158 for Cheshire U15s.

The second eleven are at home to Macclesfield seconds, wickets pitched at 1.30pm.
