NORTHWICH is revving up for another Thundersprint festival that promises to be bigger and better than last year's extravaganza.

The event will be host to top class international riders, including six times world champion Jim Redman, as well as biking enthusiasts from across Vale Royal.

Frank Melling, Thundersprint organiser, said: "This event is attracting attention from all over the world.

"The thing that really excites me is that it is free of charge. I come from a disadvantaged background and I remember what it was like not be able to go to the really top class events, but with Thundersprint no-one is excluded from joining in the fun."

In addition to watching bikes perform against the clock there will be a host of entertainment for all the family, including a bouncy castle, face painting, live music, street entertainment and a large auto jumble market.

The Thundersprint phenomenon only began six years ago but it is already the biggest classic bike event in the world. San 'Pepin' Milann, eight times champion of Spain, said: "Last year I walked around Northwich on the Saturday evening and it was so quiet. Then on Sunday there is a Grand Prix from nothing. It's crazy."

Mr Melling added: "We want the biggest one day crowd for a motorsport event anywhere in the world and, more importantly, an event of the highest quality. In short we want an event that everyone from the infant in the classroom to the senior citizen reliving the bikes of his youth can be truly proud of."
