COMMUNITIES can win big grants thanks to a unique new scheme to reward companies for managing their landfill tax bill with money for local projects.
The challenge has been laid down to towns and villages without their own community centres or halls to 'get it together' to be in with a chance of winning up to £250,000 for community development.
The landfill tax credit scheme gives waste management companies the chance to plough nearly seven per cent of their landfill tax bill back into the community and the environment.
