A CARELESS shopper sparked a security scare at Halton Lea on Friday.
A report of a suspect package saw the shopping centre evacuated at 12.48pm.
The package was found in Woolworths and the police and fire service were called.
A Halton Lea spokesperson said: "Both the police and the fire brigade attended the site and were happy with the evacuation procedures and the fact that the centre was emptied and locked within six minutes.
"Once the all clear was given by the police, the tenants and staff returned to the centre and trading commenced as normal."
Police said trained officers discovered the package was only a carrier bag containing glass and notepaper before the bomb disposal squad even arrived.
Shoppers returned at around 1.30pm.
