A MAN had to have a finger amputated after he was assaulted on Murdishaw Avenue, near the junction with Blythe Close, Runcorn.

He was walking home just after midnight on Saturday, April 3, when he was approached by a man who asked for a cigarette.

The attacker put his hand on the victim's shoulder, who then pulled away but felt a cut to his little finger.

He was taken to Whiston Hospital but lost the finger.

The attacker is approximately 25 to 26, 6ft 2ins to 6ft 3ins tall, with a long face and full cheeks, has sunken eyes and a long neck, short dark hair which is slightly longer and bushier on top, clean shaven but with sideburns which flicked out at the bottom.
