HOME safety checks for young and old are being offered by St Helens Council.

A safety co-ordinator has been employed to advise on food and child safety issues and to check electrical equipment and carbon monoxide emissions levels.

The co-ordinator, Eric Riley, will carry out the checks for free to anyone aged 65 and over and for parents who have a child under the age of five.

Anyone who would like a free home safety check should contact Eric on 01744 456468 to make an appointment.

The first 50 people to reply will receive a free carbon monoxide detector.
