CHAMPION amateur Rugby League team Golborne Parkside finished their league programme in style.
Golborne, the North West Counties Division Four title winners, defeated third-placed Higginshaw 42-6 at home on Saturday.
With the silverware already being in the bag, Golborne coach David Tickle rested several of the regular first team forwards and handed first team debuts to Neil Muir and under 18s half backs Stuart Arkwright and Tommy Smith.
They gave exciting displays that augur well for the club's long term future.
Tries were scored by second row James Byrne and under nines team coach Stuart Naylor as Golborne built up an 18-6 half-time lead. David Hindley had converted the scores and added three penalties.
Captain for the day Zac Patterson and man of the match Andy Simms added tries after the break and the scoring was completed when prop Gareth Sherman crossed the line for his first and the team's final try of the season.
