VULCAN manager Paul Tolan has paid tribute to the players who this week lifted the first title in more than 20 years for the soccer club.
He said: "Each player has done themselves and this club proud. I am ecstatic as it is what each player deserved."
Vulcan were crowned Warrington Soccer League Division One champions when they defeated relegation-threatened St Helens side Blackbrook 3-1 in front of a large and expectant crowd.
Nerves in the young Vulcan side were aplenty at kick-off time and it showed as the game started as a scrappy affair.
However, Vulcan went ahead when a corner created a scramble and Marsden put the ball into the net.
A pass from Hughes was deflected past the Blackbrook goalkeeper and Ant Woodier slotted the ball home to make it 2-0.
Vulcan virtually sealed the three points and consequently the title as defender Marsden grabbed the third goal, which was his 23rd of the season, following good work from McGowan.
Blackbrook were given a glimmer of hope as a deflected header from Salihi looped over goalkeeper Duxbury right on half-time.
In the second half Vulcan were under constant pressure but Blackbrook could not create a clear chance.
A strike from Woodier from 40 metres out bounced off the underside of the bar and was cleared to safety.
