FOOTBALLERS from a variety of backgrounds came together for Warrington's third ethnic football tournament on Sunday.
The event, at Great Sankey Leisure Centre, welcomed a host of guests, including councillors and leaders of all the faith communities in the town.
Sunny Bhalla, of Warrington Ethnic Sports Association, which organised the tournament, said: "It's the first of its kind in the north west, and this year we had more than 100 spectators watching what was an excellent display of football talent."
Six teams from across town took part, including Hindu, Sikh and Muslim players, a Cinnamon Brow community youth team and a team from Cheshire Police.
Among those present were the Mayor of Warrington, Clr Pauline Nelson; Warrington South MP Helen Southworth; Clr Colin Froggatt; Divyesh Trivedi, chairman of the Council of Faiths; and Amargit Singh, chairman of Warrington Ethnic Communities Association.
