A LATCHFORD man was sentenced to two years community service after he pleaded guilty to cultivating and possessing cannabis and abstracting electricity.
John Chomiak- Palmer, aged 21, of Barrymore Avenue, Latchford, pleaded guilty to the offences at Warrington Crown Court on Friday.
The court heard that police officers raided Chomiak- Palmer's home on October 8 last year.
They found six mature female cannabis plants that were heated by a lamp mounted on the roof.
The plants were concealed in the back bedroom of the house, in a sealed off section behind timber and plastic boards.
It is estimated that the plants could yield between £847 and £1,413.
But Chomiak- Palmer claimed he was only growing the plants to feed his own £20 a day habit.
He said it was a money-saving exercise rather than a money-making exercise.
Chomiak-Palmer was ordered to attend a Think First programme and sentenced to a two-year community rehabilitation order.
