Diana Krall
GARETH DUNNING
WHATEVER you think about Diana Krall's music, one thing is undeniable. The woman has style.
And while this album may have moved slightly away from the jazz that characterised her earlier work, it remains a sumptuous sound that she produces.
Among the highlights of Girl in the Other Room is material from Joni Mitchell as well as tracks she has penned with husband and fellow superstar, Elvis Costello.
When Krall first started out in the industry hers was a style of her own, but now with the likes of Norah Jones and Katie Melua coming on the scene there has been concern in some circles that her music is being pushed aside.
But with a voice as seductive and pure as this, she is hard to ignore and on the evidence of this album, she won't be going anywhere.
