IT'S an ancient yedscratter that has infrequently popped up in my mailbag for donkey's years. But somehow, nobody seems to have a convincing answer.
Latest to be intrigued is Paul Everall from Haydock who wants to know how the old Lancashire saying, Bally Ann Day (meaning the most hard-up day of the week) came about. Just who, wonders Paul, was the legendary Bally Ann?
He's tried everything, from questioning fellow Yickers to trawling the Internet, in the hope of finding out the answer. But so far, just blanks!
ANYONE able to put the young man out of his agony? Then please drop a line to Whalley's World.
