IT promises to be an exciting weekend of competition for the Warrington Young Musician of the Year titles.
The finals of the contest take place today, Friday and Sunday at Barrow Hall Theatre at Great Sankey High School.
The weekend starts with the lower division final on Friday at 7pm that will feature Chinese music and dance.
There will be the announcement of the winner from the finalists: Namoi Hamnett, of Lymm who plays French horn, Thomas Cameron, of Frodsham who plays piano, Hector Docx, of Altrincham who plays piano, Kimberley Warren, of Appleton who sings and Fiona Lewis of Knutsford who plays violin.
Sunday's final will feature the upper division and will be adjudicated by Leon McCawley, international concert pianist and Richard Howarth, leader of the Manchester Camerata.
The finalists are Naomi James, of Grappenhall who plays flute, Lucy Royle, of Grappenhall who plays flute, Zara Jealous, of Lymm who plays flute, Sarah Lewis, of Knutsford who plays violin, Adam Penketh, of Widnes who plays trombone and Sonia Tse, of Altrincham who plays piano.
Tickets are £5 (children £2) for both finals and are available from Edwin Allen, arts and craft shop, Buttermarket Street or on 265146 or pay on the door.
