A GROUP of Warrington carers journeyed to Blackpool to meet the Princess Royal at the launch of a new appeal.
The Warrington Carers Centre, based in Garven Place, helps carers in the borough who look after a family member or friend who is disabled or ill.
And a lucky few were chosen to travel to Blackpool to meet Princess Anne as she launched an appeal for funds to boost the Blackpool centre.
Wyn Higham, chairman of the group, said: "The princess spoke with real understanding about the role that carers play in our society and about the impact this can have on their own life, from the younger carer who might miss out on their youth or their education to the older carers who, because of their age, become frail and ill due to their caring load."
The centre estimates that there are around 21,000 unpaid carers in the borough.
Wyn said: "There are so many different ways in which we may be able to support or assist you.
"Alternatively, if you know of a friend or work colleague who is a carer, then please pass on their details to us."
You can drop into the centre, at the Bungalow, Garven Place, off Sankey Street, between 10am and 2pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, or call 644212.
