INJURY-PLAGUED Vikings prop Ryan MacDonald has left the club to join National League outfit Halifax.

The 26-year-old has only played a handful of games for Widnes in two and a half seasons since promotion to Super League.

The Workington-born forward was contracted until the end of the season but joins the Yorkshire side with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, Aussie utility back Craig Weston, who signed for the club last week, will join up with his new team-mates for his third spell at Widnes, in about three weeks.

Weston, 30, who can play in a number of positions, is currently working up to full fitness playing for Burleigh Bears in the Queensland Cup.
