I AM truly dismayed to learn that the Penketh Carnival may not take place this year due to the cost of policing the event.
Why do residents of one of the most populated areas of the town pay council tax for policing if not for events such as this?
I understand the ever increasing demands on our police force, but surely only good can come out of such an event, especially at a time when there is a national drive to promote community policing. £3,000 may not be much in the force budget, but is a great deal to the carnival committee and the people of Penketh.
