PUPILS at St Gregory's High School have a 'solid silver' future ahead of them, if their latest creations are anything to go by.

Children in year 10 had to design and make their own fashion masterpieces as part of their GCSE coursework.

Ten textile students created futuristic clothing inspired by metals, machinery and the theme 'solid silver'.

They spent weeks experimenting with different materials and difficult techniques, such as embroidery, quilting and free machining.

Pupils used everything from silver fabrics to nuts and bolts and kitchen foil for the first project towards their final GCSE mark and the results are impressive.

Teacher Janet Grimes said: "I am very proud of them.

"For their first attempt it is a very high standard.

"They had to use very complicated, sophisticated and advanced techniques."

Parents will be able to view the designs at an exhibition at the school later on in the year.
